The power of combining targeted Facebook ads and a well optimized and proven opt in page is incredible. With some great ads and a little testing you could be adding hundreds or even thousands of new prospective clients/customers every month to your email list.
Combine the power of Facebook ads, Leadpages and a well thought out email marketing funnel and you have a recipe for massive success.
If you have tried using Facebook ads and Leadpages in the past but you didn’t get the results you were hoping for read on for some tips and tricks you may not have thought of.
The Right Lead Magnet
Everything starts with the lead magnet. If you want people to give you their email address and invite you into their digital world you have to give them something of value.
Digital Marketer is using a lead magnet in the example above. They are giving away their Facebook ad templates in order to get someone to opt in and get into their funnel where they will try to sell them a product.
But how do you know what the best lead magnet is? What should you use? A free PDF, checklist, eBook? Maybe a webinar or video series?
The way I think of lead magnets is that you need to solve a problem. Not the huge problem in someone’s life or business but a specific problem that can be solved fairly quickly.
You don’t want a lead magnet to be too general in what’s being offered. You want to focus on solving a problem or giving a desired outcome and then state what the prospect will become or be able to do after using your lead magnet.
“Learn How To Lose Weight
“Learn How to Lose 10 Pounds in 2 weeks WITHOUT Exercising”
“Discover How To Make More Money”
“See Exactly how to Make an Extra $1000 a Month Doing These 3 Things”
I know that anything dealing with weight loss and make money type of offers are hard to do on Facebook but I’m just using these as an example.
You get the idea. Promise a quick solution to a problem. Then follow up with them by email and retargeting ads to offer your core product or service.
The Right Facebook Targeting
Having a great lead magnet is definitely important but it won’t matter how great it is if you put in front of the wrong audience. They just won’t bite.
Facebook makes it easy to target people who may be interested in your product. The range of targeting options is amazing. You can target by demographics as well as location and interest targets.
One of the easiest ways to target potential prospects for you lead magnet is through Facebook Retargeting. Retargeting is basically showing an ad to someone who has been to your website before. You (or your developer) place a little snippet of code on your site and Facebook keeps track of everyone that visits your site by putting these people into a custom audience.
You can then show ads to them the next time the visit Facebook. This is an extremely effective way to re-engage with the people who discovered you but didn’t opt into your list.
If you have Facebook conversion tracking set up you can target the people that visited your site but didn’t sign up for your lead magnet or didn’t make a purchase.
No need to show them an ad for something they already signed up for.
Eye Catching Creative and Great Ad Copy
The next thing you want to do is make sure that your Facebook ads use eye-catching graphics that get the attention of your prospect. They are not on Facebook looking for your awesome lead magnet so you really need to grab them as they are scrolling through their newsfeed.
Always test your ad graphics. Start with at least 2-3 different creatives and see which one performs the best.
Your ad copy is extremely important and you should be testing multiple ads to find out which one gets you the best click through rate (CTR) and which one actually leads to more opt-ins.
When writing your ad copy keep in mind that you want to convey the benefit of your lead magnet and what problem it will solve for your prospect.
I always recommend asking a question in the top text of the ad that you know someone would be asking as it relates to your lead magnet.
Then tell them how your eBook, Video, Webinar, etc. will solve that problem for them.
Don’t get to complicated with your ads. Remember people are not on Facebook to read your ad. You need to get their attention, state that you know about their problem and then get them to your opt-in page quickly.
Have a High Performing Landing Page
A great looking ad, awesome graphics, and some amazing Facebook targeting won’t equal success if your landing page doesn’t convert.
That’s why I like Leadpages. They not only have awesome looking pages they are the only landing page software provider that you can actually sort by highest converting page. They track every page by industry and you can see which ones actually perform the best.
I like to make sure that my ad ties in with my landing page as much as possible. It’s a good idea to use the same colors on your ad and even some of the graphical elements from your ad on your landing page.
You want people to feel comfortable and feel like everything is one seamless process from ad, to opt-in, to the thank you page.
When writing copy for your landing page, don’t stray too far from the copy you used on your ad.
A lot of people will try to pack the opt-in page with as much info as they can, thinking that they have to state every possible benefit.
You can use almost the same exact copy you used for the ad on your opt-in page. Remember the ad got their attention and they want your solution. Just keep it simple and let them know that they are still on the same path to getting there.
Tons of Possibilities
With the power of Facebook’s targeting and Leadpage’s proven landing pages, you can grow your list and sell more products or services.
It doesn’t end when someone opts-in though. You need to have retargeting setup, you need an effective email funnel in place so that those leads get converted into sales.
Once you have everything working together you can have a predictable income stream that’s very passive and extremely effective.
